Millwright Apprentice

Cornerstone Mechanical Services, Inc. – DFW Area

Cornerstone Mechanical is seeking a driven, mechanically inclined individual to join our team as a Millwright Apprentice . This is a hands-on opportunity to build a long-term career in industrial maintenance and rotating equipment repair.

As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced Senior Millwrights to develop critical skills in precision maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment reliability. We are looking for someone who is motivated to learn, takes pride in their work, and wants to grow within a high-performance team.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in the repair, maintenance, and installation of industrial machinery in accordance with manufacturer specifications
• Execute work orders using CMMS systems, job packages, and standard procedures
• Learn and apply core millwright fundamentals including bearings, seals, alignment, and balancing
• Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments to support maintenance activities
• Perform routine inspections and identify potential equipment issues through observation and testing
• Communicate findings clearly to support repair planning and execution
• Participate in job safety analyses (JSA) and maintain a strong safety culture on all job sites
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping in both shop and field environments
• Accurately document work performed, including inspection data and repair history
• Enter detailed job data into CMMS, including labor hours, task completion, and feedback
• Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts to improve equipment reliability

Basic Requirements

• Ability to read, understand, and follow technical instructions, manuals, and work orders
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn industrial maintenance practices
• Ability to use measuring tools and perform basic math calculations
• Willingness to work flexible schedules , including overtime or emergency callouts as needed
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs , climb ladders, and work in physically demanding environments

Working Conditions

• Industrial environments including machine shops and manufacturing facilities
• Exposure to outdoor conditions and varying temperatures
• Work around rotating machinery, energized equipment, and high-noise areas
• Required use of PPE (steel-toe boots, safety glasses, respirators, etc.)
• Travel to multiple job sites across the DFW area (company vehicle provided)

What Will Set You Apart

• Experience with CMMS systems
• Basic knowledge of rigging and equipment handling
• Experience with oxy-acetylene cutting and torch work
• Familiarity with shop equipment (lathes, mills, balancing machines)
• 1+ years of experience in industrial mechanical maintenance or field service
• Exposure to rotating equipment and reliability practices
